It was in September of 2020 we started publishing a Partner Spotlight each month. Each article featured a nonprofit or community group that SCE Credit Union has assisted. These partners are all active in the Southern California and Southern Nevada regions in which SCE Credit Union serves. We began with Compton Youth Build and have shined our spotlight on 27 organizations. From a high school academy that concentrates on business related majors, to a union’s electrical worker training program, to a violence intervention program, we’ve offered a peek into places making a positive difference in people’s lives. They’re all organizations we’re proud to support with financial education and access to financial products. The Partner Spotlight has been a way to help publicize their efforts and demonstrate our Credit Union’s commitment to the community. Beginning in January of 2023, we’re going to take a broader approach. Instead of focusing on one organization, we’ll highlight multiple examples of our community outreach, including smaller, one-time efforts, that often fly under the radar.

Each month we’ll look back at some of the recent community engagement, advocacy, financial education and other contributions the Credit Union has made. Team members, who all have a hand in community outreach and empowerment, will be our guides. The group includes Emily Stevens, Director, Community Engagement in Southern Nevada, Ricardo Flores, Community Development Executive in Southern California, Pasqual Garrido, Director of Legislative and Community Affairs, and Abby Ulm, Director of the Center for Financial Empowerment, a nonprofit our  Credit Union founded in 2005. We look forward to the debut of this new version in late January of 2023.
