Describe the work you do at the Credit Union.

As a Human Resources Associate, I provide administrative support to my department. Some of my regular tasks include preparing correspondence, payroll and benefit auditing, assisting in new hire onboarding, maintaining personnel records, monthly team member recognitions, activity and event planning as well as assisting team members with inquiries regarding routine HR policies and procedures. I find my role very fulfilling; I love to help others and provide support where I can. I enjoy what I do, and I have an awesome team – I’ve felt supported and encouraged by each one of them since day one.

What was your first job?

I became the neighborhood babysitter at age 13, so I stayed very busy with babysitting jobs for a couple of years. My first official job was at Chick-fil-A, where I learned the value of hard work.

How did you come to be an SCE Credit Union team member?

For several years, I was working for a small family company doing HR and Executive Admin work. I was looking for an opportunity to grow however, and a chance to work for a larger company to apply my knowledge and gain more HR experience. Prior to that, I had previous experience working at Altura Credit Union as a Teller for three years – there I got to experience and came to enjoy the culture credit unions have. I was looking to find a position that had good company culture where I could also use my HR skills. When I saw the job posting for an HR position at SCE Credit Union, I instantly knew it would be a good fit.

How do you spend your free time?

In my free time I enjoy playing board games, listening to true crime podcasts and spending time with my family and friends. I have two fur babies that I love, Boo and Salem – both are rescue cats. Some of my hobbies include hiking, roller skating and crafting. One of my short-term goals is to complete The Six Peaks Challenge – a hiking challenge which I’m looking forward to accomplishing.

Do you speak any languages, other than English?

No, just English.

Inspiration from Justine…

For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start all over again.
