Describe the work you do at the Credit Union.

I’m a Member Service Consultant for our Boyle Heights branch. My job consists of opening and servicing accounts and answering any questions members may have regarding their account. I also introduce new people to SCE Credit Union and provide them with information on what makes banking with us different. My job is very fulfilling – I enjoy talking and meeting new people, as well as sharing my expertise to provide a memorable experience.

What was your first job?

I was only 18 and straight out of high school when I got my first job at a store at The Shops at Santa Anita. I worked there while studying to become a Medical Assistant. I later ended up graduating with an associate degree.

How did you come to be an SCE Credit Union team member?

Before becoming a team member of the Credit Union, I was an actual member. In 2020, I saw the Credit Union was looking for a Teller position at the Boyle Heights branch. I didn’t have a lot of banking knowledge, but I did have experience in handling transactions and working with money. I started as a Teller before eventually taking on a Member Service Consultant position.

How do you spend your free time?

I spend my free time with my family and friends, mostly my family, and I’m often at my parents’ home. While I don’t currently have kids, I do have one pet – his name is Miklo and he’s a seven-month-old Golden Retriever. My life goal is to go back to school and earn a degree in Business Administration.

Do you speak any languages, other than English?

Yes, I’m fluent in Spanish.
